Major General H P Seneviratne VSV USP ndu assumed office as the 19th General Officer Commanding of 56 Division on 20 June 2019.
The newly appointed General Officer Commanding of 56 Division took over his duties amid the religious observances and blessings during a brief ceremony held at the Headquarters 56 Division, Kokeliya.
At the arrival, the Major General H P Seneviratne VSV USP ndu was accorded with a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour at the premises of Headquarters 56 Division. Later he marked the assuming of duties by planting a sapling at the camp premises. Then, he addressed troops under 56 Division and laid the foundation to commence the construction of ESR and SLEME workshops at the camp premises.
After a camp visit the newly appointed General Officer Commanding of 56 Division attended in an all rank tea party.
Brigade Commanders 561 and 563 along with Commanding Officers of under command Battalions, Senior Officers, Officers and large number of Other Ranks of Headquarters 56 Division participated in the programme.
