MAJ GENERAL HGPM KARIYAWASAM RSP ndc psc IG ASSUMED OFFICE AS THE 27th GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING OF 56 INFANTRY DIVISION

Major General H G P M Kariyawasam RSP ndc psc IG assumed office as the 27th GOC of 56 Infantry Division on 30th August 2022. At the commencement of the ceremony marked by alms giving to the Maha Sanga at 56 Infantry Division Headquarters, Kokeliya, Vavuniya.

As a symbolic gesture of taking over the command, Major General Manjula Kariyawasam placed his signature to a formal document with the presence of Commanders of 561, 562, 563 Infantry Brigades and all Staff Officers of 56 Infantry Division Headquarters. The days’ proceedings were followed by guard turn out, group photograph, planting a sapling, all ranks tea party and troop address.
