'MAHUA' PLANTING PROGRAM OF 56 INFANTRY DIVISION COINCIDING WITH 'THURU MITHURTU NAWA RATAK' PROJECT
< p align="justify">The guidance and concept of Commander of Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu the “Thuru Mithuru Nawa Ratak” project is launched to plant 'Mahua’ saplings widely as help for agriculture. In line with program 56 Infantry Division organized an event on planting of saplings along the tank bunds, paddy lands and distributed among farming community of the area on 20 March 2024. Troops of 7 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 17 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry took first step to the project coordinating with Divisional Agrarian Services Centre and farmers under the guidance and instructions of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General WPADW Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division, Major General S Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc.
< p align="justify">During this occasion, General Officer Commanding talked few words with farmers on challenges and difficulties of farmers.
< p align="justify">Deputy General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division Commanders of 562 and 563 Infantry Brigades, Colonel General Staff of 56 Infantry Division, Hindu Clergies, Development Officers of Divisional Agrarian Services Centers, Senior Officers, Officers participated for the programme.
