INTRODUCING NEW SOLAR ENERGY POWER PROJECT FOR SL ARMY
With the guidance and supervision of His Excellencies President Mahinda Rajapakshe, a Solar Power Generation Plant was built in 2 Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) at Pandulagama, Anuradhapura as a result of ‘Mahinda Chinthanaya’ (Vision of Mahinda) to promote, solar electricity power.
The newly built solar power generation plant was inaugurated by the Secretary of Security and Urban Development Ministry hon. Gotabhaya Rajapakshe at the invitation of Commander Security Force (Wanni), Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP ndu psc, on 03rd April 2014. The occasion was graced by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General R M D Ratnayake WWV RWP RSP USP ndu psc and the sub Secretary of the Security and Urban Development Ministry.
About 3500 electric unites will be generated by this 20KW solar power system saving nearly a cost of 0.7 million rupee annually. The outgoings of 4.5 million rupee will be able to regain within 7 years of time.
The project was established by the CECT International Co LTD of China with the guidance and assistance of Lanka Logistic & Technologies LTD under the ministry of Security and Urban development. The basic construction was done by the 2 ESR in Pandulagama, Anuradhapura.
