The Inter Division Tennis Tournament organised annually by Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) is one of the much awaited and competitive event in the sports calendar of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni). Organising such sports tournaments are aimed in building the comradeship, team spirit and unity among soldiers through creating awareness on different fields of sports.
These annual tournaments are being conducted according to a concept initiated by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumdu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu in order to develop cohesiveness and identify the hidden talents of solders under Security Force (Wanni) who are potential to be emerged as National and International level players.
In that context, the Commander 613 Brigade Colonel R K N C Jayawardhana RSP directed his troops to organise the Inter Division Tennis Tournament – 2018 from 7 to 11 February 2019 under the careful supervision General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Brigadier K D C J G Thilajarathne RWP RSP.
Representing both Officers and Other Ranks for Single and Double matches in Open, Over 40 years and Below 40 years competed with each other for the champion trophy.
After obtaining the highest overall marks, 61 Division was emerged as the Champion Division of Inter Division Tennis Tournament – 2018 while the 54 Division was become as the runner up in year 2018 tournament.
The ceremony of awarding certificates and trophies was graced by the General Officer Commanding of 62 Division Brigadier Dhammika Jayasinghe and he witnessed an eye catching exhibition match held between 61 and 54 Divisions.
Senior Officers, Officers and numbers of Other Ranks representing several under command formations to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) were present at the ceremony of grand final.
