Sri Lanka Army envisions in performing its prime role and task while excelling in sports activities to inculcate comradeship, determination, courage and discipline in moulding of a professional soldier. As part of this concept, troops of 56 Division along with its under command Brigades and Battalions organized the Inter Division Badminton Tournament – 2018 at 56 Division indoor stadium on 06 June 2018 with the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Brigadier D A P N Dematanpitiya ndu psc and the close supervision of the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu.
Formations under command to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) battled for the championship during 02, 03,04 and 05 June 2018.
The tournament conclusion brought a hard fought glorious victory to the 56 Division after a nail biting battle against 62 Division which became Runners up of Inter Division Badminton Tournament - 2018.
The certificate awarding and closing ceremony was graced by the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Brigadier D A P N Dematanpitiya ndu psc.
Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and large number of Other Ranks participated in the final ceremony of the Inter Division Badminton Tournament - 2018.
