The General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division presided an Intelligence Coordinating Conference with the representatives of Navy, Police, Special Task Force, Narcotic Bureau & Excise Department. Under Command Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers & following intelligence agents were participated: SP HMCP Herath - SP 1 Mannar, Lt Comd Asela Nanayakkara - CIO N/W Naval Comd - Ledr (G), Lt Akalanka Nawarathne – IO Mannar SL Navy, SP HMCP Herath – SP 1 Mannar, CI C Prasad Jayathilake – HQ I Mannar, CI OAU Jayashantha – OIC Crime Mannar, CI Keerthi Premathilake – OIC Police Narcotic Bureau, IP AVSP Jayawardhene - 2IC STF Illupukadavai, IP JAGM Jayasinghe – 2IC STF Mannar, IP M Balathas – IP Assitance SI SH Offoor - CTID OIC.
Further, during the discussion relevant officers from all agencies explained their achievements and the difficulties facing whilst performing their duties specially with regard to the drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
The importance of having proper network among all agencies was amply highlighted and arrangements have been made to work in a common platform to achieve the desired goal in future.
Finally, General Officer Commanding some up the conference by extending his gratitude towards all participants and ensuring that fullest support from the Army to be given under any circumstances to eradicate drug trafficking and other illegal activities in Mannar District.
