ILLEGAL TIMBER CUTTING IN MADHU FOREST BUSTED BY 20 SLSR TROOPS
A large scale of illicitly fallen satinwood logs which were being transported in the Madhu Forest Reserve under 61 Division area of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) was detected by a team of Army personnel engaged in field duties on 21 April 2016. \r\n\r\nThose 20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops belong to 612 Brigade together with wildlife conservation officials immediately intensified their search operation further and found a large pile of satinwood trees transporting in a lorry covered with packs bran. \r\n\r\nHowever, the troops engaged in the search operation as per the instructions of the Commander, 612 Brigade formally handed over those logs , vehicle and two suspect persons to the wildlife department officials for further investigations and necessary action.
