The newly constructed hermitage at Sri Sudharmaramaya Bhikkunee Aramaya in Selalihinigama was auspiciously vested with the Buddhist Bhikkunees on 17 August 2018. Constructions of this hermitage was initiated on a directive from the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu with the generous financial assistance of philanthropist Mr. Dimuthu Thennakoon who is a close friend of his.
Also a newly constructed wall around the sacred Boo Tree was unveiled by General Officer Commanding 56 Division, Brigadier Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc,which was constructed with the financial assistance from his beloved father Mr Piyarathna Dematanpitiya. Subsequently, foundation stone for a Shrine Room was laid at the premises which is to be constructed with the financial assistance provided by relatives of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Mr. Chamath Abeygunawardhana & Enoka Abeygunawardhana.
All construction were done by 5 (V) Battalion of Gajaba Regiment under the guidance of Commander 563 Brigade, Colonel Prasadh Edirisinghe psc.
The Chief Executive Officer of ITN, Mr Chandhana Thilakarathne, Mr Piyarathna Dematanpitiya, Commanders of 561 and 563 Brigades, Commanding Officers of under command battalions and large number of civilians in Selalihinigama and nearby areas gathered for the occasion.
