HASSLE FREE PASSING FOR PUBLIC THROUGH OMANTHAI CHECK POINT
Omanthai check point was established on March 22nd 2002 due to war situation prevailed in the country. This was initiated mainly to prevent smuggling of unwanted goods from South to North and vise versa. Under the instruction of Secretary of Defense Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksha and the Commander of the Sri lanka Army, Omanthai check point was released from checking for public. This announced by the Commander SF Wanni Maj General Boniface Perera RWP RSP ndu psc on 31st August 2013. 56 Division Commander Brigadier DAR Ranawaka RSP IG, Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) Brigadier RKBS Ketakumbura RSP, 563 Brigade Commander Brigadier AAIJ Bandara RWP RSP, 561 Brigade Commander Colonel SP Wijesooriya RSP, Colonel CU Marasinghe USP of Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) Colonel Admin and Quarter and many senior officers of Sri Lanka Army were present to grace this occasion.
