Handing over two Renovated School Building to School Children in Perallel with the Clean Sri Lanka Programme

In alignment with the national initiative of the Clean Sri Lanka Programme, the 59 Infantry Division, under the direction of Major General D R N Hettiarachchi RWP RSP USP General Officer Commanding 59 Infantry Division undertook a community development project focusing on educational infrastructure and basic amenities in the Mullaitivu region.

With the close supervision of the 592 Infantry Brigade, troops of 5 (V) SLSR contributed their skilled manpower towards the successful renovation of Mullaitivu/Karipattamurippu Tamil School and Mullaitivu/Periya Puliyamkulam Tamil School.

These facilities were ceremonially handed over to the respective school children on 07 August 2025 at a brief yet dignified ceremony held under the patronage of Major General D R N Hettiarachchi RWP RSP USP General Officer Commanding 59 Infantry Division.

This community welfare initiative was generously supported through the financial contributions of Dr Ariyathan Gobikrishnan of the Gobi Krisna Foundation and Mr Lawrance Joseph Pillae representing the Wanni Aid Organization. The entire programme was effectively coordinated by Major General (Retd) Ravi Rathansinham.

The occasion was further dignified by the presence of Col A M D B Adhikari RWP RSP Commander 592 Infantry Brigade, Major H Chandana SLSR Commanding Officer 5(V) SLSR, Asst. Director Planning of Oddusuddan and other distinguished invitees.
