On instructions of Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC, 21 Division, under guidance of Security Force Wanni, organized a mammoth musical extravaganza in the city of Anuradhapura on 01 June 2019 at Salgadu Esplanade. Purpose was to give confidence and instil a sense of normalcy and peace after the tensedperiod that prevailed in the country.
General Officer Commanding 21 Division, Major General Kumar Jayapathirana RSP, personally gave leadership in all arrangements under advise of Commander Security Force Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, to successfully organise the event in a splendid manner.
The grand musical night was made colourful by the popular leading music band in Sri Lanka “Sahara Flash” under the leadership of Pradeep K. Specialist compeering by renowned Nadeeka Karunanayake & Surangi Kodithuwakku duo added glamour to make it more elegant. They both have been with the Army to cover most events for many decades whilst Surangi Kodithuwakku compeered the first ever “Ranaviru Real Star”. TV Derana provided full media sponsorship during the event as well as prior to the event. Extremely popular artists Mr. Senanayake Weraliyadda, Mr. Indunil Andaramana, Mrs Supriya Abeysekara, Mrs. Shanika Wanigasekara and Ms. Shanika Madumali entertained the crowd to reach a hysterical level in enjoyment. The group and artists were coordinated by Commander 211 Brigade Colonel Lal Wijethunga RWP RSP USP.
A mammoth crowd of civilians from Anuradhapura, Vavuniya and suburbs enthusiastically filled the Salgado grounds for the first time in history to enjoy until wee hours of next morning.
The Chief Guest of the Musical Night was Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu while General Officers Commanding of 21, 54, 56, 61 and 62 Divisions along Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Harendra Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc and many more Senior Officers from under command formations were present at the occasion.
Commander Security Force Wanni, Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, has directed that such events to be organized in Mannar, Vavuniya and Welioya as well.
