A GORGEOUS RELIGIOUS CEREMONY TO ENSHRINE SACRED RELICS OF THE SANDA HIRU SEYA STUPA
The adorable religious ceremony to enshrine sacred relics at hemispherical dome of the Sanda Hiru Seya was held today 23rd November 2014 with the blessing of thriple gem, under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, at the sacred city of Anuradhapura.
The Sanda Hiru Seya was constructed on the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa in appreciation of the noble service rendered by the Security Forces and Police to defeat terrorism and bring lasting peace to the country.
The chethiya constructed at the historical site where the battle between king Dutugemunu and King Elara took place. The sacred relics obtained from several Buddhist temples throughout the country had been enshrined at the Sanda Hiru Chethiya with the honorable participation of 6000 Bhikkush thousand of military personnel and a gathering of millions of Buddhist devotees.
First lady Shranthi Rajapaksha, Defense and Urban Development Ministry Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksha, Commanders of the Thri-Forces, the Inspector-General of Police, a large number of ministers were among the respective guests.
