Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) together with District Secretariat Office Vavuniya held the first conference on 08 June 2018 to discuss in organizing Poson Kalapaya – 2018. The formal conference was led by the District Secretary Mr. Somarathna Widhanapathirana.
During the discussion, the distinguished officials conversed to organize this year Poson festival with the participation of all ethnic and religious communities in Wanni region on account of exhibiting the coexistence and virtuous rapport between Buddhist, Hindu, Catholic and Islamic religious groups in Vavuniya area.
Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) under the close supervision and guidance of the Wanni Security Force Commander Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu together with District Secretariat Office Vavuniya, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Police, Civil Defence Force along with all other public and private sector authorities will join hands together to organise the Poson festival on 27 and 28 June 2018 at Madukanda Sri Dhalada Viharaya with patronage of the chief incumbent Ven. Muwaetagama Anandhabidhana thero. Representing the conference, the Chief executive officer of ITN Mr. Chandana Thilakarathne stated that the entire event will be covered on ‘Sawanak Res’ religious programme and further highlighted that ITN will be sponsored for this event as the main media partner.
District Secretary Vavuniya Mr. Somarathna Widhanapathirana, Brigadier General Staff in Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Brigadier Kumar Jayapathirana RSP, the Chief executive officer of ITN broadcasting service Mr Chandhana Thilakarathne, officials of all Defence Forces, Public and Private sector officials participated in the conference.
