As per the direction given by the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, a project was initiated to modify the DT 175 cc motorbikes in the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) AOR which were in the process of condemnation.
As a start to the project, the engine modification was done by utilizing a brand new Bajaj 150 cc engine on an unserviceable DT 175 cc motorbike. The modification process was conducted at the 5th Battalion Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers at Saliyapura.
The project was monitored by the commanding officer of the 5th Battalion of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Major K P C Fernando USP psc Lsc. S/M10011 Cpl Aravinda H R K C and S/M100501 L/Cpl Jayasinghe L G D M were involved as technicians in the project. The first supervision and test run were conducted on 18 December 2023 in the presence of Commander Security Forces (Wanni) at the headquarters premises.
