In view of alleviating hardship faced by Buddhist Clergies due to Covid 19 pandemic and travel restriction imposed, It was observed that almsgiving to religious places had been limited and Buddhist Clergies were facing certain difficulties in receiving offerings. Hence, in line with Poson Festival, dry ration and essential items distribution programme was conducted under the guidance and presence of Major General D M T B Dissanayaka RSP USP General Officer Commanding of 65 Infantry Division on 24 June 2021.
The donation programme was sponsored by Mr Moris Sonders Jayathilaka who is living in Canada at present, as a benevolent response to the request made by the Lt Col J D U T Kumara RSP, Civil Affairs Officer of 65 Inf Division.
.Dry ration and essential items were offered to Paggnananda Temple at Pirappanmaduwa, Sri Sadhasiri Maha Viharaya Salalihinigama, Sri Sudaharma Meheni Aramya Salalihinigama, Sujatharama Meheni Aramaya Nandamithragama, Eatabagaskada Rajamha Viharaya and Sri Bodhimalu Viharaya Kokeliya. The event conducted under the guidelines stipulated for prevention of Covid - 19 Pandemic.
