DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE SELECTS 22 GAJABA REGIMENT AS THE BEST FARM
As a concept initiated by the Government under the “Jathika Ahara Sangramaya” (National Food Production Campaign) to develop traditional food consumption among communities in Sri Lanka, the Army under the directions of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC,assists Government Authorities in promoting organiccultivation of traditional crops. Under this project, Department of Agriculture and Livestock held a contest to select the best farmmaintained by battalions under Security Force Headquarters (Wanni).
All under command battalions participated in the competitionto cultivate organic crops in their battalion premises. According to the results of the final selection, 22 Battalion Gajaba Regiment emerged as the best battalion while second and third places were won by 25 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 21 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment respectively.
The awarding of prizes was held on 08 June 2018 at the office of Commander Security Force Headquarters Wanni Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu.
