On the instructions of the Commander of the Army and under the guidance of the Commander, Security Force (Wanni) Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, troops serving under the Security Force (Wanni) launched a special dengue prevention programme for three days, covering Anuradhapura sacred city, prior to Vesak Festival of Buddhist devotees on May 2 - 4, 2023, in order to avoid possibilities for any outbreak of the epidemic.
This programme was also attended by 12 Public Health Inspectors and in addition to over 900 Army personnel in Security Force (Wanni). The General Officer Commanding - 21 Infantry Division, the commander - Forward Maintenance Area (North Central), the Commander - 212 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officers of the Security Force (Wanni) actively contributed for the success of the programme.
