As per the request made by the chairman of the Traders’ Association –Vavuniya, Mr. Shanmugarajah Sujen, a two storied building was built by the troops of 56 Infantry Division. The building was ceremonially unveiled at 1500 hr on 09 July 2023 by the Chief Guest Major General CD Ranasinghe RWP RSP Commander Security Force - Wanni with the presence of Major General HGPM Kariyawasam RSP ndc psc IG, Chief Secretary – Northern Province Mr. Saman Bandulasena, District Secretary – Vavuniya Mr. PA Sarath Chandra, Deputy Inspector General – Vavuniya P Ampavila, President Traders’ Association Vavuniya – Mr. Shanmugarajah Sujen and Members of Traders’ Association. Then, the religious rituals were conducted by the Hindu, Islam and Catholic priests.
By closing the ceremony, token of appreciation was held by exchanging two mementoes between Commander Security Force - Wanni and Chairman of Vavuniya Traders’ Association. In addition all troops who have participated to construct the building were also appreciated by presenting mementoes by the chairman of Traders’ Association - Vavuniya.
