Conducting A Community Hosting Programme

According to the concept of the General Officer Commanding 54th Infantry Division‚ Major General WWHRRRVMNDKB Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, with the support of the District Secretary and Mayor of Mannar, with the assistance of sister services of the area, a cleaning programme has been conducted on 18 May 2023 from 0600 am to 1200 pm in order to maintain a plastic free environment in the area of Mannar.

Here, all the places around the coast, polluted by garbage discarded by the towns people and tourists were cleaned and for this program, all the Brigades, Units, Naval and Air Force personnel of the 54th Division, as well as a large number of Civilians in the respective areas, participated in this program with great enthusiasm.

About 20 tractor-tails of waste such as plastic and glass bottles collected during this community service programme were handed over to 542 Infantry Brigade Headquarters for recycling.

Also, this program was praised by the government officials and the civilian of the area and this community service programme was the reason for further polishing the reputation of the army.
