On invitation by Major General A M C P Wijayarathne RWP RSP nps psc, General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division, the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc attended a donation programme of dry ration maternal items for low-income families and pregnant mothers in the area. This event was successfully conducted at the Diocesan Center, Mannar. This charitable event was sponsored by the Mr. and Mrs. Seah Wong Chi family and foreign well-wishers, coordinated by the Sarana Buddhist Foundation, hosted by the 54 Infantry Division and executed by 543 Infantry Brigade.
Most Reverend Dr. Anthonypillai Ganapragasgam, the Bishop of Mannar and Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (Wanni), as the Chief Guests, graced the occasion. Also in attendance were venerable Nakalagamuwe Sumana Thero, the Chief patron of the Sarana Buddhist Foundation in Kadawatha, Mr. Sunil Wijewardana, the president of the Sarana Buddhist Foundation; along with military officials, Colonel H S W K Galhenage RWP RSP USP psc, Commander 543 Infantry Brigade have joined as the chief coordinator of the event.
The aim of this generous endeavor was to provide essential aid to 250 underprivileged families and expectant mothers in Mannar district. 50 pregnant mothers received a maternal pack worth of Rs. 15,000.00. Approximately 200 families received a dry ration pack worth of Rs. 8,000.00 approximately, ensuring vital nutritional and maternal care support.
