COMMANDER, SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTERS (WANNI) VISITED TO 56 INFANTRY DIVISION

The Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, conducted an official visit to the 56 Infantry Division Headquarters at Kokeliya on 27 April 2026.

Upon arrival, the Commander was warmly received by the General Officer Commanding 56 Infantry Division, Major General S A U A Solangaarachchi RSP ndc psc, and was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with military traditions.

During the visit, the Commander addressed the troops at the Division Headquarters, emphasizing the importance of maintaining unwavering vigilance, exemplary discipline and total dedication to duty. He also highlighted the dangers of drug abuse and involvement in illegal online activities, stressing the need for personal responsibility, accountability and prudent financial management among all ranks.

To mark the occasion, the Commander planted a sapling within the camp premises, symbolizing growth and sustainability. Thereafter, he attended a tea reception organized in his honour, where he engaged in cordial interactions with officers and other ranks and posed for a group photograph.

Subsequently, the Commander carried out a comprehensive inspection of the camp premises, including the Senior Non Commission Officers and Non Commission Officers living quarters, Private Mess, Corporals’ Club, Main Kitchen, Library, Women’s quarters, Quartermaster Stores, Officers’ Mess, and Officers’ Accommodation. He also visited and inspected the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps squadron and fuel station, Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers workshop and the General Engineering Station of the 56 Infantry Division.

During the inspection, particular attention was paid to infrastructure, living standards, and troop welfare facilities. The Commander issued necessary instructions for further improvements to enhance the overall well-being and operational readiness of the troops.

The visit was formally commemorated with the signing of the Visitors’ Book.
