The Commander Security Force (Wanni), Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, made his first official visit to 54 Infantry Division, under command Brigades and Battalions on 24 July 2023.
The General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division, Major General G W A Senavirathne USP psc, Brigade Commanders of 541, 542 and 543 Infantry Brigades, Staff Officers of 54 Infantry Division and the Commanding Officers extended a warm welcome to the Commander, Security Force (Wanni) on arrival by presenting ceremonial honours at the entrance.
Thereafter, a comprehensive briefing was done in relevance to the Operational and Administrative tasks carried out by the 54 Infantry Division by the General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division at the Conference Hall in the presence of Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers. Subsequently, a Mango sapling was planted the premises of Headquarters Office Complex to remarks the visit and appeared for a group photograph by the Commander, Security Force (Wanni) with Field Commanders and Staff Officers of 54 Infantry Division. Finally, he addressed the under command troops of the 54 Infantry Division and emphasized training, maintaining discipline and behaving with responsibility to ensure the dignity of the victorious Sri Lanka Army. Further, he elaborated on how to maintain a balance between army life and personal life and responsibility towards the nationalty.
During the visit the Commander, Security Force (Wanni) and General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division courtesy called on Bishop of Mannar, Rt. Rev. Dr. Fidelis Lionel Emmanuel Fernando at Bishop House and received his blessings.
The Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Administration and Quartering and Colonel General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) also joined him on this official visit in order to receive an update on the operational and administrative functions of the under command formations of the 54 Infantry Division.
