COMMANDER OF THE ARMY VISITSTROOPS OF SECURITY FORCE WANNI
Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP USP psc made his first official visit to Vavuniya on 14 October 2017 to address troops in Security Force (Wanni).\r\n\r\nAs the outset, the Commander of the Army was ceremoniously receivedat the entrance of the Headquarterswith a Guard Turnout and warmly received byCommander, Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP USP ndu and accompanied to review the Guard of Honour accorded by troops of 26 Sri Lanka Singha Regiment.\r\n\r\nAfter receiving the salute, the Army Commander sat for photographs with Senior Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers.\r\n\r\nThereafter,General Officer Commanding 54 Division, Major General G J A W Galagamage introduced the Commander to a cross section of troops gathered in the auditorium and invited the Army Commander to deliver his first formal addressto around 1000 members of the Security Force (Wanni) Area. During his speech the Commander emphasized that the Army is required to be developed in to a capacity based and fully-fledged organization to overcome any future threat or situation. Further, he highlighted that training should continued to achieve expected goalsto stand as guardians of the Nation.\r\n\r\nAt the end of the address, the Commander of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) presented a memento tosymbolize the first official visit of Commander of the Army to HQ SF (Wanni).\r\n\r\nSoon after his address the Commander of the Army planted a Sandalwoodsapling to mark his visit to the HQSF (W) and joined with all ranks for tea at the auditorium.\r\n\r\nThereafter, the Commander of Army was presented with a short briefing pertaining to thearea of responsibility. General Officers Commanding of all under command divisions together with their Brigades and Battalion Commanderswere present at the briefing. The Commander of the Army making use of the opportunity addressed all Officers at Command level and reiterated why the Army should be made a capacity based Army.\r\n\r\nAs the finale of the day’s eventsthe Commander of the Army joined all officers for lunch at the Officers’ Mess and placed his signature on the Visitors’ Book after writing his comments.\r\n
