Major General Dammika Jayasinghe, Commander SF (Wanni) visited 54 Division area of responsibility to take stock of the security situation and military operations carried out by the 54 Division (on 26 September 2020). Having received a briefing on illegal activities by the respective GOC and Bde Commanders the Commander SF (Wanni) stressed the importance of curbing the illegal activities to the fullest extent possible. Later, he visited Moondampiddi fishing harboring 541 Brigade area of responsibility and interacted with leaders of the local fishing community.
Comd SF (Wanni) also inspected the security along south coast of Mannar Island in 543 Brigade area of responsibility and commended the high level of alertness demonstrated by squad of soldiers of 7th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment that lead to the recovery of a haul of Kerala Cannabis. Major General Indrajith Bandara, GOC 54 Infantry Division and Brigadier Pradeep Kulathunga, Commander 541 Brigade accompanied the SF Comd during the visit.
