With the intention of fostering sportsmanship, cultivating camaraderie, entertainment and experience for the troops of the 56 Infantry Division, Canoeing Competition was held on 24 July 2024 at Peyadikulam Wewa at Kokeliya. The event was organized under the guidance of General Officer Commanding, 56 Infantry Division, Major General S Kasthurimudali RSP ndc psc by the troops of 562 Infantry Brigade. The General Officer Commanding graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The participants engaged in spirited competition across three categories as single, double, triple sculler events. The winners were awarded trophies and cash incentives by the Chief Guest.
The success of the event was further amplified by the collaboration with the ‘Rambawetti Nanneer’ local fishing society. Their support, in providing boats and oars played a vital role in the seamless execution of the canoeing competition.
Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and civilians witnessed the occasion.
