BROUGHT HAPPINESS & PROSPERITY TO VEHERATHENNA VILLAGE BY WANNI TROOPS
62 Division brought a New Year$s cheer for four families in need by handing over ownership them with newly constructed permanent houses in “Veherathenna Resettled Village†on 01 January 2015 and it was sure to trigger some deep and meaningful beginning of the year 2015. It was an altruistic gift from the leading Gem businessman in Rathnapura Mr. Nihal Jayathilake along with Mr. L N Perera and Mr. Sinha Saminda Abeygunawardhana. This work of great virtue was done by under the guidance of the Commander Security Force (Wanni), Competent Authority of Resettlement in Northern Province, and Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP USP ndu psc, and with the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 62 Division Brigadier K G D Perera RWP RSP USP IG with good deeds. Commanding Officers of 26th Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment , 11th Gamunu Watch, 9th Gajaba Regiment, 27th Gajaba Regiment and 9th (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry played a vital role and contributed necessary manpower with the proper guidance of respective Brigade Commanders.
In parallel to this event, distribution of much needed stationery for the 168 school children with financial difficulties was taken place as another social welfare project and each contained all the essential stationery worth of Rs. 2500.00. This was organized by Brigadier Hiran Halangoda (Retd), under the kind patronage of Dr. Chandrasena, Mr. Wasantha de Alwis, Mrs. Anoma de Alwis and Mr. Dilsiri Chandrasena.
Commander Security Force (Wanni), Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP USP ndu psc graced this occasion as the Chief Guest and Brigadier Administration and Quartering, of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Brigadier P S R L Rajakaruna Lsc, General Officer Commanding of 62 Division, Brigadier K G D Perera RWP RSP USP IG, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier H P Seneviratne USP, Commander 623 Brigade, Brigadier J Thanthiri Watta RWP, Commander 622 Brigade, Brigadier T D Weerakoon RWP RSP USP, Commanding Officers of 26th Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment , 11th Gamunu Watch, 9th Gajaba Regiment, 27th Gajaba Regiment and 9th (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 17th Sri Lanka National Guard and the residents of Veherathenna were also present at the occasion.
