BRIGADIER HARENDRA RANASINGHE RWP RSP ndc ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE NEW BRIGADIER GENERAL STAFF IN SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (WANNI)

Brigadier Harendra Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc assumed office as the new Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) in an auspicious time on 06 May 2019.

He succeeded Brigadier S S Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc who has been appointed as the new General Officer Commanding of 52 Division.

Brigadier Harendra Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc is from Special Forces and has held various important appointments during his military career in Command, Instructor and Staff fields. Within the Battalion, he has started his career as the Platoon Commander in prestigious Gemunu Watch and later joined Special Forces. As the elite force soldier, Brigadier Ranasinghe has commanded his troops holding various appointments such as Squadron Commander, Battalion Second in Command, Battalion Commander and Brigade Commander.

His is illustrious military career has been decorated significantly with victorious operations such as rescuing Kilinochchi Town under his velour leadership as the Commander 571 Brigade and in same as the Colonel General Staff of well-known 58 Division launching successful battles during the last Humanitarian Operation.

In his instructor capacity, he has served as the Senior Instructor and Chief Instructor in Special Forces Training School. His career has been further exemplified as the Commandant of Special Forces Training School and Army Training School in Maduruoya. As Staff appointments, he has served as a Colonel General Staff of 58 Division and Defence Counsellor for Sri Lankan High Commissioner to United Status of America.

Before appointing as the Brigadier General Staff in Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Brigadier Harendra Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc has been attached to Army Headquarters in wake of formulating the National Defence Collage in Sri Lanka.

Brigadier Harendra Ranasinghe is an old boy of one of the leading schools in Sri Lanka, Thurston Collage, Colombo and has graduated in Master of Conflict and Peace Studies from University of Colombo.
