Brigadier AAIJ Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment assumed duties as the 8th General Officer Commanding of 54 Division on 8 July 2019 in a formal ceremony. The newly appointed General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed and bestowed a Guard Turnout and Parade on his arrival to the Headquarters of 54 Division.
The newly appointed General Officer Commanding auspiciously took over duties signing an official document on 11 July 2019 amid religious observances of all faiths and subsequently he planted a sapling at the premises of Headquarters 54 Division to mark the assuming of duties. Later on he addressed a cross section of troops under 54 Division.
Brigade Commanders, Commanding officers under 54 Division and staff of Division Headquarters were present at the occasion.
