A Blood Donation programme was conducted by 61 Division and it’s under command brigades, battalions on 18 September 2013 at the 61 Division Headquarters at Velankulam (Vavuniya) with the assistance of Dr. Mrs. Voleena Dissanayaka, Dr. H G Gayan Dhammika and the staff of the blood bank in Vavuniya base hospital.
Brigadier DMWWWMRBM Daulagala RSP, the General Officer Commanding, 61 Division, Colonel MP Lamahewa USP the Commander 611 Brigade, Colonel DMUG Bandara RSP USP the Commander 612 Brigade and several other military officers were present in the event and over 250 officers and other ranks serving under 61 Division voluntarily donated blood in this programme.
