A Blood donation programme was organized by 56 Division on 17 August 2013 with assistance of Dr. Voleena Dissanayake, Dr. Nuwan Hewawasam and the staff of the blood bank in vavuniya base hospital.
Brigadier D A R Ranawaka RSP IG the General Officer Commanding 56 Division and over 151 officers and other ranks the same division donated blood in this programme.
