BASKETBALL COACHING PROGRAMME CONDUCTED AT SFHQ (WANNI)

In line with the concept of the Commander, Security Forces (Wanni), Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, and under the supervision of the 3 Commando Regiment, a Basketball Coaching Programme was successfully conducted from 03 to 05 March 2026 at SFHQ (Wanni). The programme was organized with the aim of further developing the knowledge and capabilities of soldiers, particularly Physical Training Instructors, in the field of basketball coaching.

The training programme mainly focused on improving coaching techniques in accordance with the rules and regulations of the game, while also promoting the professional development of basketball among military personnel. A total of 42 Physical Training Instructors serving under Security Forces (Wanni) participated in the programme, which provided a valuable opportunity to enhance their professional knowledge and practical coaching skills.

The sessions were conducted by Major K W G Buddhika SLAC, who serves as a qualified official of the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation. He is also an International 5x5 South Asian Referee, FIBA Table Official, FIBA Digital Score Operator, International Muay Thai Referee and an International Muay Thai Coach. His expertise and experience greatly contributed to the success of the programme.
