In view of promoting goodwill and reconciliation among the civilians and the Army, 56 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni, organized a “ BAKMAHA ULELA†festival and Musical Evening at playground of Bogaswewa School in newly resettled area on 29th April 2014.
General Officer Commanding 56 Division, Brigadier D A R Ranawaka RSP IG organized the event with the close collaboration of the villagers in the area.
Traditional event such as climbing of grease tree, cadjan weaving, eye spotting, fancy dress, tug-of-war, marathon, bicycle race, musical chairs and selecting “Awurudu Kumariya†drew much attraction of the villagers as well as soldiers. The musical show presented by “SANIDAPA†musical band was commenced at 2030 hrs and witnessed by more than 5000 civilians.
The commander Security Force (Wanni) and competent authority of resettlement of displaced personnel in Northern Province Major General M H S B Perera RWP RSP ndu psc participated as the chief guest and the Govt Agent in Vavuniya district Mr. Bandula Harishcandra, DIG Vavuniya Mr. jayantha Wickramasinghe, The General Officer Commanding 54 Division Major General K M U Wijerathne USP ndu, General Officer Commanding 61 Division Brig B M W W W M R B M Daulagala RSP, the General Officer Commanding 62 Division Brigadier K G D Perera RWP RSP IG, distingue guests, senior military officers, and large number of military personnel participated for the event.
