Troops of 61 Division under the direct supervision of General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Brigadier K D C G J Thilakarathna RWP RSP organized ʻBak Maha Ulelaʼ- 2019 at the Headquarters Premise of 61 Division on 08 April 2019.
The Sinhala and Hindu New Year celebration was taken place with the view of relaxing minds of soldiers who stayed at camps during the New Year season as well to build up the good relationship among everyone in highlighting New Year customs and traditions.
Many fun making events and traditional games were organized to entertain all participants of Sinhala and Hindu New Year celebrations. Among those events a rich tea table with many traditional food items Gemi Gedara concept, competitions such as “Kotta Pora”, Fancy Dress competition were such events catch eyes of the public.
Troops of Headquarters 61 Division, under command brigades, battalions, battalion training school actively participated in the event and enjoyed well. A large crowd of civilian in the area were too presence at the programme and won prizes. The Bak Maha Ulela was culminated with a musical show staged by regimental band of Vijayaba Infantry Regiment.
