AWARD CEREMONY OF THE RESERVE STRIKE PLATOON COURSE - NO: 06

Under the direction of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, the Reserve Strike Platoon Course (No. 06) was conducted at Battalion Training School, Pampaimadu terminated on 20 September 2023. The course was comprised of 07 x platoons (05 Officers and 175 Other Ranks) contributed by the 21, 54 and 56 Infantry Divisions.

The curriculum of the course included lectures and practical sessions on handling GPS, unarmed combat (UC), VIP/VVIP protection, the marksmanship package (handling of weapons with live firing), search and rescue operations, rules of engagement (ROE), special operation procedures, internal security (IS) duties and Basic Swimming package.

The closing remarks of the course was made by the Commander Security Forces (Wanni), Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara with the participation of General Officer Commanding of 56 Infantry Division, Colonel General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Colonel Admin and Quartering of 56 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers of respective Battalions which contributed the platoons, and Chief Instructor with all staffs of Battalion Training School Pampeimadu. During the awarding ceremony, the following student officers and other ranks were awarded trophies and all participants were awarded the certificates:

a. Best Platoon: 3rd Armored Regiment.

b. Best Platoon Commander: Lieutenant K B E H R Keppetiyagoda VIR (O/71699) – 4 VIR.

c. Best Section Commander: S/21D00236 Corporal Piyarathna S P N J 17 (V) SLLI.

d. Best All-Round Soldier: S/H100545 Lance Corporal Herath H M S A 12 (V) VIR.

e. Best Shooter: S/21D00093 Corporal Subasinghe 17 (V) SLLI.

f. Best Physical: S/827437 Staff Sargent Bandara G W S A 2 MIR.
