ARMY TROOPS ASSIST IN RESTORATION OF PARTLY BREACHED CANAL BUND OF WAHALKADA TANK IN ANURADHAPURA

Due to adverse weather conditions affecting the country, a part of the D-4 Canal bund of Wahalkada tank in Anuradhapura District, located in the Wahalkada D-4, Grama Niladhari Division collapsed under the pressure of heavy water flow. As a result, floodwaters threatened the Wahalkada D-4 village, posing a risk to the homes and farmland of the local residents.

With the direction of Major General J P C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, Commander Security Force (Wanni) and the supervision of Major General W M S C K Wanasinghe RSP USP, Commander 21 Infantry Division and Commander 211 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier T D P Siriwardana psc, the Commanding Officer and troops of 9 Gajaba Regiment and 5 (V) Gajaba Regiment along with the villagers, worked together to temporarily repair the Canal bund by using sandbags on 27 November 2024 to prevent further water leakage.
