ARMY BUILT TWO MORE HOUSES VESTED WITH NEEDY FAMILIES

Troops of Security Force Wanni under the supervision of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc continued in launching a social welfare project to vest two newly constructed houses on 10 September 2019 for the benefit of underprivileged people in Wanni region.

With the aim of upgrading the living standard of deprived families in Wanni area, Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc pioneered to launch the construction of these houses for two selected families living with great difficulties in Bogaswewa and Padhavi - Parakramapura.

House vested to Mr K A S Sarath Thilakarathne and his helpless family living in Bogaswewa was sponsored by one of the well-known former cricketer Mr Rangana Herath and Ms Priyangani Bradygampala financed for the construction of house vested to Mr M M Priyantha living in Weherawewa Padhavi-Parakramapura.

The Commander 212 Brigade Colonel Anil Peiris RSP USP psc through his personal affiliation coordinated the benevolence support of these philanthropists to finance for the construction of each house. Constructions were undertaken by troops of 11 Sri Lanka Artillery and 7 Sri Lanka Singhe Regiment.

The newly constructed each house is comprised with all facilities such as sitting area, dining room, bed rooms, etc and each was gifted with essential house hold items, electric appliances and furniture worth over Rs. 100,000.00. In addition, these beneficiaries were much fortunate to be facilitated with a modern electric tube well cost more than Rs. 100,000.00.

New homes were vested with families giving a prime place to religious observances. The keys of each house were offered to heads of household during a brief ceremony by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Jagath Gunawardena RSP VSV USP ndc psc who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The former cricketer Mr Rangana Herath made his presence as guest of honour to witness the fruitful result produced through his benevolence support in making true a dream of a new house of these needy families. General Officers Commanding of 56 and 62 Divisions, Commanders of 212, 563 and 623 Brigades, Commanding Officers of 11 Sri Lanka Artillery and 7 Sri Lanka Singhe Regiment, Senior Military Officers of Headquarters Security Force (Wanni) and family members of beneficiaries along with number of civilians in the village too were present at the ceremonies.
