In view of enhancing sports skills and physical robustness of military personals performing duties in all formations under Security Force (Wanni), numbers of sports tournaments are being organized annually with the direct supervision of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu.
Inter Division Football tournament is one among those sports activities organized annually by Security Force Headquarters (Wanni).
Formations under Security Force (Wanni), 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) battled for the Inter Divisional Football Championship during last week. The Inter Division Football Tournament – 2018 was organized by troops 62 Division and conducted at Mahaweli Grounds, Sampathnuwara during 29, 30 and 31 January 2019.
The champion’s trophy of the tournament was awarded to 56 Division while the team of 21 Division emerged as runners up scoring 3-0 at the Finals held on 31 January 2019. The General Officer Commanding of 62 Division, Brigadier J M U D Jayasinghe graced the ceremony of awarding certificates and trophies to winners as the chief guest.
The closing ceremony was held 31 January 2019 with participation of Senior Officers, Officers and large number of army sportsmen representing formations under Security Force (Wanni).
