The Grand Final of Inter Division Cricket Tournament - 2019 took place on 28 February 2019 at the play ground of Headquarters 54 Division in Mannar. The Cricket Tournament is one of the main events organized every year in Security Force (Wanni) area where the Officers and Other Ranks of all under command formations get the opportunity to exhibit their talents, team spirits and the unity while performing their prime role as military personals.
Formations under command to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) battled for the championship during 26 to 28 February 2019.
The tournament emulated the highest professional sportsmanship while improving the standards through the thirst for the Cricket inside the organization. The overall championship was awarded to 21 Division while Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) emerged as runners up. According to the final results Sapper Rajapaksha from the team of 21 Division was awarded as the ‘Man of the Series’ while Lance Corporal Wijekoon from the team of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) was awarded as the ‘Man of the Match’ at the year’s Inter Division Cricket Tournament.
Troops of 54 Division and its under command Brigades and Battalions organized the Tournament in a grandiose manner with elaborated arrangements under the careful supervision of Brigadier Senarath Bandara RWP USP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of 54 Division.
The Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North Central) Brigadier Rasika Karunathilaka graced the certificate awarding and closing ceremony as the chief guest.
The General Officer Commanding of 54 Division, Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and large number of Other Ranks made their presence in the finale ceremony of Inter Division Cricket Tournament - 2019.
