The closing ceremony of Inter Division Athletic Meet- 2018 took place on 5January 2018 at the North Central Sports Complex in Anuradhapura. The Athletic Meet is one of the main events organized every year in Security Force (Wanni) area where the Officers and Other Ranks of all under command formations get the opportunity to exhibit their physical robustness, energetic power and the stability of mind.
Formations under command to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), 21, 54, 56, 61, 62 Divisions andForward Maintenance Area (North Central)battled for the championship in track and field events during 03, 04 and 05 January 2018.
TheAthletics Meet emulated the highest professional sportsmanship with many records to improve the standards through the thirst for athletic achievements inside the organization. The overall championship was awarded to 62 Division while 21 Division emerged as runners up. According to the result achieved in contests 62 Division had scored 241 marks while 21 Division obtained 154 marks.
Troops of 54 Division and its under command Brigades and Battalions organized the year’s Meetin a grandiose manner with elaborate arrangements under the careful supervision of Brigadier Senarath Bandara RWP USP ndu, the General Officer Commanding of 54 Division.
The Commander of Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu graced the certificate awarding and closing ceremony as the chief guest.
The General Officers Commanding of all Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and large number of Other Ranks made their presence in the finale ceremony of Inter Division Athletic Meet - 2018.
