65 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS CLEANED SCHOOL PREMISES AND ITS SURROUNDINGS

The schools were closed nearly around 07 months of period due to the prevailing situation of covid 19 outbreak. However, after successful completion of several vaccination programmes to mitigate the situation, it was announced to re-open the schools in several stages.

Therefore, Security Forces have initiated the cleaning and disinfection management campaign in order to assist the schools to re-opened with secure environment.

Accordingly, ‘Sharamadana campaign was launched with direction and guidance of General Officer Commanding of 65 Infantry Division Maj Gen K A Samarasiri RWP RSP USP psc and under the supervision of Commander 651 and 652 Infantry Brigades to clean the schools premises and its surroundings in its under command battalion AORs. The ‘Shramadana’ campaign was organized in response to the request made by the principals to the GOC.

04 x 50 troops attended belonging to 65 Infantry Division, 10 SLLI, 19 SLLI & 17 (V) SLLI Bns actively took part in the ‘Shramadana’ campaign and cleaned the school premises and the buildings on 27 and 28 Oct 2021.

During this campaign following schools and pre schools were cleaned.

a. Vellankulam Government Tamil Mix School. b. Palinagar Kumarasami primary school. c. Naddankandal primary school. d. Alankulam Primary school. e. Therankandal Government Tamil Mix School. f. Ambalpuram primary school. g. Kollavillankulam primary school. h. Palinagar Tamil Alagan pre-school.

After the ‘Shramadana’ campaign, the principals on behalf of the teachers and the children’s of the schools extended their gratitude to the Commander of the Army and all personnel of the Army for assistance given.
