In Sri Lanka, November- January is a rainy season (North East Monsoon) especially in the North and East part of the country. During this season most wells of the Northern Province will be contaminated with the rain water and people facing difficulties to get the drinking water as the flood contaminates all open wells.
To improve the living condition of the affected community providing safe water in Mulativu region, 65 Infantry Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) cleaned the drinking water well at Ambalpuram Government Mixed Tamil School on 20 November 2021 after a request made by the principal and parents of Ambalpuram School.
The drinking well remained filled with pollutants and some dried leaves when the school authorities turned to the Army support. The cleaning of the well would enable the students to have drinking water without much difficulty.
Cleaning task was conducted by 65 Infantry Division and 10 SLLI troops according to the direction given by GOC 65 Inf Div Major General Anil Samarasiri.
