Troops of 622 Brigade under 62 Division organized a Poson Zone at the ground of Kiri Ibbanwewa Maha Vidyala in Welioya on 27 June 2018.
The Poson Zone was commenced with the arrival of the chief guest of the day’s event, the Commander 622 Brigade, Colonel Saliya Amunugama. This massive festive session was comprised with an exhibition of decorative lanterns, ‘Bathi Gee’ programme of students in Dhamma School, a modal of Mihintalawa and a Dansela. The prominence of the day’s event was stolen by Bathi Gee programme of students in Dhamma school who presented number of devotional songs to the music of beat band teams in 9 Battalion Gajaba Regiment and 17 Sri Lanka National Guard.
Later on, Mr Rohana Lakshman and members of Ganemulla, Kudabollatha “Minisun Wenuwen Minisun” organization donated school accessories worth of Rs. 500000.00 to the 250 students including teams of Bathi Gee recital programme of KiriIbbanwewa Sri Sucharitha Dhamma school, Janakapura Darmashoka Dhamma school and Helambawewa Sri Duminda Dhamma school.
This Poson Festive Session was organized in such a large scale by troops under 62 Division with directions of General Officer Commanding 62 Division Brigadier Sanjaya Wanigasinghe RWP RSP USP and the supervision the Commander 622 Brigade, Colonel Saliya Amunugama.
The entire event was coordinated by Major Manjula de Silva and Major Budhia Jayasuriya the Commanding Officers of 9 and 27 Battalions of Gajaba Regiment with their troops to depict the true features of Buddhism to the people of Welioya, Kiriibbanwewa, Janakapura, Helambawewa and Sinhapura areas.
The chief incumbent of Kiri Ibbanwewa Darma Praneetharamaya and Sangha Nayaka of Northern Province Ven Polonnaruwe Thilakalankarathero, the Commander 621 Brigade, Commander 623 Brigade and Several Senior Officers in 62 Division, civil officials and more than 4000 civilians gathered in the ‘Pososn Zone.
