A donation programme was organised by troops of 621 Brigade to distribute essential school items for students of D5 Primary School in Wahalkada on 05 October 2019.
After observing the difficulties faced by the students coming from deprived families in Wahalkada and nearby areas, the General Officer Commanding of 62 Division Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe initiated to provide a set of school item and the programme was organised by Commander, 621 Brigade Col AP Wickramasekara USP psc.
Over 130 students were given with pairs of shoes, school bags, water bottles, stationeries and some equipment for class room cleaning. In addition to this programme a Shramadhana Campaign was conducted with the participation of a cross section of parents, teachers and troops under 621 Brigade.
The Chairman of Seegiri Group, Negambo together with some philanthropists funded this donation.
The General Officer Commanding 62 Division Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe attended in distributing these items during a brief ceremony held at school premises.
The Commander 621 Brigade, Commanding Officers of 14 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 17 Sri Lanka National Guard, the principal, teachers of D5 Primary School, and large number of students were made their presence during this event.
