The 3rd Anniversary of the 62 Division (Welioya) is fallen on September 10, 2013. Headquarters 62 Division, to celebrate this occasion has organized a series of programmes with the participation of officers and other ranks of the Divisional Headquarters and the Brigades and the Battalions under its command.
As the first event of this series of programmes, a pirith chanting ceremony was held on September 05, 2013 followed by an alms giving for Maha Sangha to invoke blessings to the war heroes and the civilians of the area who laid their lives during the past struggling era.
The pirith chanting programme was started with a colourful procession made up by all battalions and school children in the area. Drummers, traditional dancers, lantern bearers, flower bicycles and Buddhist flags bearers were parts of this display of religious piety.
