62 DIVISION CELEBRATES ITS 8TH ANNIVERSARY

Troops of 62 Division celebrated its 8th Anniversary by organising series of religious and ceremonial activities during 10, 14 and 15 September 2018 at the Division Headquarters in Galkulama.

The entire programme was organised under the guidance and supervision of General Officer Commanding 62 Division, Brigadier LANS Wanigasinghe RWP RSP USP.

As the initial programme of the celebrations, a Guard Turnout in accordance with military formalities was bestowed to the General Officer Commanding 62 Division at the main entrance of Division Headquarters.

Opening of newly constructed Dining Room at Sergeants and Warrants Officers Mess brought the second segment of the itinerary of celebrations. Later on, the General Officer Commanding 62 Division, Brigadier Sanjaya Wanigasinghe laid the foundation stone for a new all ranks Holiday Bungalow.

Another significant event of the Anniversary was Pirith Chanting campaign organised at the office complex on 14th evening. 15 Venerable Sanghas participated in the Pirith Chanting to bless the troops under 62 Division. Offering morning almsgiving (Heel Dhanaya) for 25 monks on 15th September 2018 was a significant charitable event organised with the participation of all Officers of Headquarters 62 Division, all Brigade Commanders Commanding Officers and approximately 350 Other Ranks of under command battalions to 62 Division.

The celebrations of 8th Anniversary of 62 Division were come to the end with an all ranks lunch held at the Private Mess with the participation of All Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers along with several Officers, Other Ranks of the Divisional Headquarter and under command formations .In addition, nearly 200 civilians neighbouring Divisional Headquarters were invited to this event.
