Series of religious programmes were organized by 62 Division to celebrate 2561st Vesak Festival on 10 and 11 May 2017 under the directions and guidance of the General Officer Commanding 62 Division, Brigadier Sanjaya Wanigasinghe. rnrnA Spiritual development programme was conducted with the participation of Officers and Other Ranks of 62 Division at the Divisional Headquarters at 0900 hrs on Vesak Full Moon Poya day.rnrnTotal number of 150 Army personnel took part in the programme, conducted by the Chief Incumbent of the Veheragala Rajamaha Viharaya, Imbulgoda Pagngnaseela Thero.rnrnNumber of Vesak Lanterns were created for the competition to decorate Vesak zone which was organized in front of the Divisional Headquarters. The inauguration ceremony of the Vesak Festive Zone was commenced with the participation of the General Officer Commanding 62 Division, the Commanders 622 Bde, 623 Bde, All COs and staff Officers of the Divisional Headquarters.rnrnAll Vesak Lanterns were assessed by an independent judge board. The first place was awarded to 14 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry whilst second and third places were awarded to 17 Sri Lanka National Guard and 623 Brigade respectively.rn rnMoreover, the students of Thissawardane Dhamma School, enlightened this religious event with a Vesak devotional recital programme at main entrance of the 62 Division and a Dansal program was organized by all Officers and Other Ranks of Divisional Headquarters at the evening on both 10 and 11 May 2017. rn
