Troops of 613 Brigade under 61 Division gathered in repairing the bund of Payankulam tank on 06 October 2018. As the prevailing showery condition in the area the tank bund has been eroded severely. Many paddy fields and agricultural lands in Palampiddi area are being cultivated under Payankulam tank and thousands of civilians fulfilled their water requirement from this tank.
A military team comprising of 02 Officers and 30 Other Ranks under 613 Brigade together with civilians actively engaged in repairing the bund and the effort of troops was highly appreciated by civilians in Palampiddi area.
The Commander 613 Brigade, Colonel RKNC Jayawardane RSP guided the team under the supervision of General Officer Commanding 61 Division Brigadier K D C J G Thilakarathne RWP RSP.
