The Poovarasankulam - Thunukkai lateral road is the only access route for thousand of villagers of Velankulam, Iranaiiluppaikulam, Kakkayankulam, Periyawalayankaddu areas. But due to poor maintenance and extreme weather conditions experienced during last few months the road became an inconvenience for traveling daily by vehicales and even on foot.
However in keeping with the supervision of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major Genaral Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu" the General Officer Commanding - 61 Division Brigadier KDCGJ Tilakarathne RWP RSP took initiatives to renovate the road by organizing a Shramadana Campaign with troops of 61 Division for the benefit of lacal community.
After two days of untiring effort made by troops, it was able to renovate the road as its original condition.
Most of villagers praised the contribution of Army troops in launching this programme.
