Troops of 61 Division assisted in organising an oblation for elders living in Vellankum area on account of forthcoming 69th Army Anniversary. A civil organisation in Vellankulam area spearheaded this event on 05 October 2018 at Kovilmotai Vidyalaya.
As per the request made by the organising committee, the General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Brigadier K D C J G Thilakarathne RWP RSP guided his troops to coordinate well-wishers in the area and supported maximally to make success this event with the purpose of conveying a moral message on the value of respecting elders.
Coordinating philanthropists in the area, troops of 61 Division provided snack packets, tea and drinking water to refresh over 75 elders gathered in the event.
